Qonnectis
Qonnectis is a global supplier of web-based
technology solutions and services for the remote data collection
for water, electric, gas and environmental utilities and organisations.
It employs smart meter reading technology in systems that facilitate
automatic communication with remote utility meters and sensors,

data into utility intelligence for improving business performance
and reducing costs.
The company recently attended a CWM seminar
at the Mere Golf Club in Cheshire, which took place as part of an
Energy Systems Trade Association (ESTA) exhibition. Qonnectis was
invited to submit a number of a case studies that would demonstrate
effective ways of reducing waste and thereby minimise costs. Below
are several examples of projects in which careful monitoring and
intelligent use of data can help organisations to realise considerable
savings. Please click on the links to view the individual case studies,
which are in PDF format.

Project Beneficiaries
Bernard Kaymar
Based in Preston, Bernard Kaymar provides screen
and lithographic printing to a variety of customers both locally
and nationally. The Centre for Waste Management (CWM) initially
became involved with the company through the
British Printing Industry Federation (BPIF) of which the company
is a member. CWM helped the company to develop an Environmental
Policy Statement and to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
As a result of this work, the company has enjoyed greater success
in tendering for public sector contracts, it has reported savings
of £120,000 and forecast an increase in turnover of £160,000
in the year following the work by the CWM project team.

Preston Technical
Preston Technical operates as a converter of
adhesive tapes and foams on a contract manufacturing basis. Following
an Environmental Performance Review, CWM staff provided assistance
with improving waste disposal options for bulky wastes and ensuring
compliance with legislation, and also provided a number of bespoke
reports regarding compliance with the Packaging Regulations and
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH). By acting on
CWM recommendations, the company has halved its contracted waste
collections, saving £90 a week, and has implemented other
cost saving activities which, together, will save an estimated £12,000
